The present invention provides a generally prism-shaped anvil (10) comprising a curved lateral surface (16) and two lateral surfaces (18) (20) having sides (26) (28) adjacent the curved surface (16) and extending along the curvature axis of said surface (16), said sides (26) (28) being also slanted relative to the anvil (10) axial plane passing through the surface (16) curvature axis. These anvils (10) are alternately disposed in an anvil ring wherein they are kept by an arch-like deformation effect, thereby constituting an anvil circle.
