PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a soil fumigant which can be safely stored before application and can promptly release its active ingredient after application by adding an absorbent to an active ingredient of a liquid fumigant to solidify it and sealing and packaging the solidified product with a water-soluble and/or biodegradable film. ;SOLUTION: A soil disinfectant and/or an insecticide 2 which are liquid at room temperature (preferably chloropicrin or 1,(3-dichlorpropene) is mixed with an absorbent (particularly sintered kieselguhr is preferred) and is solidified. The solid product is sealed and packaged with a water soluble and/or biodegradable film 1 (particularly polyvinyl alcohol is preferred) into sticks. As a soil fumigant, this product is formed in ribbons, folded ribbons, or rolls. This soil fumigant is suppressed its toxicity, volatility and irritation before application to the soil, and is released into the soil after application. The working efficiency is markedly improved in no need of the apparatus for exclusive use and the fumigation is effective.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
