PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a hydraulic type front wheel brake and a mechanical type rear wheel brake at the same time by means of an output fluid pressure from a single master cylinder and to secure a front wheel brake operation even if a mechanical system is disconnected and fails. ;SOLUTION: A hydraulic type front wheel brake Bf and a hydraulic actuator A are connected to an output port, 14 in a master cylinder M operated by means of a brake lever L₁, while an operation lever for a mechanical type rear wheel brake is connected to a piston 23 in the hydraulic actuator A via a brake cable C₁. In case of disconnection of the brake cable C₁, an effective stroke, by which the front wheel brake Bf can be operated, remains in the brake lever L₁ and the master cylinder M even if the piston 23 in the hydraulic actuator A is fully stroked.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
