METHOD FOR IMPROVING ADHESION OF DURABLE COATINGS TOWEATHERED SUBSTRATES AND COATINGS MADE THEREFROMA latex binder suitable for producing high gloss coating on weatheredsubstrates and a method for producing such coatings. The binder includes a lowmolecular weight and low acid number latex polymer having an acid functional andan enamine functional moiety that results from the reaction of ammonia or aminewith an acetoacetyl functional pendant moiety on the latex polymer. A filmcontaining the latex binder is applied on a substrate and then exposed to ambientlight and air to produce a high gloss highly adherent film on difficult to adheresurfaces, such as weathered chalky substrates.
