SLOT-COUPLED FED DUAL CIRCULARPOLARIZATION TEM MODE SLOT ARRAYANTENNAABSTRACTA slot antenna is provided which includes first and second oppositelydisposed metallic plates with a dielectric layer disposed therebetween.An array of horizontal and vertical radiating elements are formed on thefirst metallic plate. An array of horizontal coupling slots an array ofvertical coupling slots are formed in the second metallic plate. Theantenna further includes first and second beam formers for providing anecessary field of view beam coverage. The array of horizontal couplingslots are operatively coupled to the first beam former and the arrayvertical coupling slots are operatively coupled to the second beamformer. Accordingly, the slot antenna may operate to transmit andreceive linearly polarized energy. The antenna may further include apolarizer disposed above the upper metallic plate for convertingbetween linear and circular polarization so as to allow for antennaoperation with single or dual circular polarization energy.
