Apparatus 1 for recording and displaying points awarded to athletes participating in sporting contests, including a display apparatus 2, located near the sports field and visible from the field, for the data relating to the points awarded to at least two athletes participating in the sporting contest; the apparatus 1 comprises, for at least one of the athletes, a remote controller 7, which the athlete can use without leaving the sports field, and which emits pulses indicating the points awarded to at least one of the athletes, and also comprises a receiver unit 6 which receives the pulses emitted by the remote controller 7 a control unit 4 which can modify the data displayed by the display apparatus 2, and a computerized operating unit 5 which connects the receiver unit 6 to the control unit 4 and can store the points and operate the control unit 4 in response to the pulses received by the receiver unit 6 and in accordance with a stored logic for controlling the points awarded to the athletes.
