In the method according to the invention a rigid cylindrical body which is axially hollow (drilled), for example of plastics material, and a constituent supporting body for a draw-off roller is arranged as an insert in an injection press and therefore a friction material, for example rubber, is injected into the press in order to coat the lateral outer cylindrical surface of the said support body with a uniform layer of monolithically adhering friction material.
