Method for compression of stationary images, achieved through a hierarchical data structure

A method of compression of stationary images is described, by the archiving and/or transmission of images, of the type based on the use of the Laplace pyramid. To reduce the losses and increase the efficiency, it is proposed to make use of two different and independent filters in the phase of generating the Gaussian pyramid and the Laplace pyramid, respectively.
