The invention concerns a special clamp for cold bonding lengths of timber of various types and thickness, consisting of various tubular steel pillars (Diagram 1) 1 to 56 in number, of heights varying from 1 metre to 6 metres depending on requirements. On each pillar is fitted an air cushion vice (Diagram 1-3) of width 140 mm and height 900 mm. This set of pillars is adjustable to any height. The pillars are all linked together (Diagram 2) both at the base and at their upper ends permitting them to be arranged in a circle (with various radii) or in line or in any other form. The air cushion vices are all supplied by a small 10/20 litre compressor, raising the pressure in the air cushions to 3 atmospheres. The whole unit is adjustable from the mobile control panel which includes a device for automatically discharging condensate and an audible time warning device. The use of this clamp concerns factories specialising in woodworking, in particular in interior design, for the creation of spiral and curved parts, in particular for spiral staircases and the like.
