Electronic power supply for electromagnets having function of doubling the voltage in excitation phase, halving it in holding phase, and providing an inverse peak in deexcitation phase
The present invention is characterised in furnishing the electromagnet, in the process of excitation, after crossing the air gap and bringing the core in alignment, a voltage value for a brief instant that is equal to twice the voltage value of the power supply and the nominal value of the electromagnet. When the excitation phase is concluded, and less energy is required to hold the core of the electromagnet, the power supply will furnish a holding voltage equal to half the power supply value and to the nominal value of the electromagnet, so as to have a very reduced energy consumption and thereby avoid overheating of the electromagnet. When voltage is removed to deexcite the electromagnet and avoid holding the core flush, by action of the diodes having a flywheel function the phenomenon will be neutralised, furnishing to the electromagnet an inverse voltage peak as compared to the power supply voltage, in order to achieve rapid cut-out of the core. By performing the above operations, we will have a high- performance electromagnet with very reduced energy consumption. IMAGE
