A method is described which is able to reduce the time necessary to complete the operation of decatizing in an autoclave for textiles in a roll on a cylinder, specifying, for the emergence of air from the roll/cylinder assembly, a first phase of venting at elevated flow rate and a second phase, when the expulsion is nearly complete, during which the venting rate is reduced to a fraction of the initial rate. This can be achieved with a device consisting of a modular valve whose clear passage can be throttled on command of a timer or a pressure switch sensitive to the pressure inside the autoclave, proportional to the quantity of steam that has already entered and, thus, to the air already vented. It is also possible to provide valves of equal or different diameter in parallel, which can be switched by a remote control of the aforementioned type. IMAGE
