The device consists of a first conveyor belt 5 fed by a station 2 feeding stockings 3, a second 6 and a third 7 conveyor belt arranged with the second one on top of the third one, and a fourth conveyor belt 8 being part of a folding station 4, the second 6 and the third conveyor belt 7 can move at least between a first working position, in which the second conveyor belt 6 advances with direction matching the first conveyor belt 5 and receives from it the starting portion 10 of a stocking 3, and a second working position, in which the third conveyor belt 7 advances with direction matching the first conveyor belt 5, receives from it the terminal portion 11 of the same stocking 3 and transmits it to the fourth conveyor belt 8, while the second conveyor belt 6 advances with direction different from the third conveyor belt 7 and gradually deposits the starting portion 10, previously received, of the same stocking 3 on the terminal portion 11 which advances supported by the third conveyor belt 7 underneath.
