Prosthesis comprising two parts for producing terminal anastomoses in vessels and ducts present in living organisms without sutures and without eversion of the vessel wall
This relates to a prosthesis which makes it possible to produce a terminal anastomosis in a vessel or duct without resorting to eversion of the vessel wall and without the need for stitches, which can also be applied to pathological vessels of any diameter. The prosthesis comprises two complementary separate parts (hemi prostheses) each of which are fixed to one of the two ends of the duct or vessel using an appropriate tool. The two hemi prostheses fixed in this way to two stubs of vessels are joined together by means of a nesting mechanism restoring the continuity of the vessel. The technical innovation introduced by this device is represented by the possibility of making terminal anastomoses in vessels and ducts in the course of video surgery which cannot otherwise be made. In addition to this, because of its easy applicability, this method makes it possible to reduce the time for the making of anastomoses, with particular advantage in emergencies, in the course of organ transplants and in the implantation of vascular prostheses currently in use.
