In general, sailing boats are subject to heeling as a result of the action of the wind on the sails. The purpose of the invention is to reduce or cancel the heeling of the boat (or of its main hull, in the case of multi-hulled boats); to obtain this result, the relative positions of the hull (or hulls), rigging and means for countering the heeling (countering means made up, for example, by the ballasted bulb keel or by the side hulls in the case of a single-hulled vessel of a multi-hulled vessel) are varied. The above-mentioned variations of the relative positions depend on the action of the wind on the sails and can be independent from the action of the crew.
