In a process for the in-situ decontamination of contaminated regions, in particular of natural soils, artificial fillings, landfill sites, old pollution and the like, in which the region to be decontaminated is treated by means of a processing device, such that it is at least released, loosened and homogeneously mixed together and in which a decontamination agent (6) is added to the homogeneously processed region to degrade the pollutants contained in the contaminated region microbiologically and/or chemically, the procedure is followed that the homogeneous processing of the contaminated region (1) is carried out by vibration energy which is introduced into the contaminated region via the processing device designed in the form of a deep vibrator (2).
