Ointment for topical intrarectal application for the treatment of hypertonia of the anal sphincter. The invention comprises a nitric oxide donating substance (glyceryl trinitrate) which can be applied alone or in association with other substances, such as topical anaesthetics and/or local antiseptics, the active principle which characterizes it being glyceryl trinitrate, which has a relaxing effect on the internal anal sphincter, relieving the pain caused by anal fissure and consequently facilitating the cicatrization thereof, avoiding surgical intervention.
