SOLID FORM ADDITIVE SYSTEMS DISPERSIBLE IN AQUEOUS MEDIA AND METHODS FOR ITS PREPARATION.

A method of obtaining solid material dispersible in aqueous media from one or more water-insoluble and meltable polymer additives and, optionally, one or more water-insoluble higher melting point polymer additives, said method consists of: a ) heating said additives to a temperature sufficient to produce a melt phase, b) combining the resulting melt phase, at a temperature sufficient to maintain a melt phase, with at least one surfactant having a value of low hydrophobic-lipophobic balance of less than 9, and at least one surfactant having a high hydrophobic-lipophobic balance value greater than 9, the total amount of surfactants being in the range of 1 to 10% by weight, based on weight total of the final product, in which said combination is carried out with sufficient agitation to provide a homogeneous mixed melt, and c) allow the mixture obtained from the a step (b) cool in such a way as to obtain a solid material dispersible in water.
