A system, data processing method and program provide aprogrammable interface between a workstation and an archiveserver to automatically store information derived from atelephone transaction. The archive server stores a data baseof records having a plurality of category fields forinformation derived from the telephone transaction. A hostaccess table stored in a memory in the workstation, containsprogrammable commands. An interface program stored in theworkstation memory executes the commands in the host accesstable, to perform interfacing functions between a host computerand the telephone network and to perform interfacing functionsbetween the workstation and the archive server.
