A method implemented in a computer peripheralhaving an IEEE 1284 interface controller for managing thetransfer of data to the interface controller includesdetecting a condition requiring the computer peripheralto control the flow of transfer of data to the interfacecontroller and if a run length encoded data transfer tothe interface controller is pending, delaying the controlof flow of the transfer of data until a RLE data byteassociated with the end of the pending run length encodeddata transfer is received by the interface controller.
