A process is disclosed for processing data at a semantic level by means of 2D or 3D visualisation onto portable data sets, in particular on a computer screen. A plurality of data of a multidimensional data space is converted interactively and graphically into at least one two- or three-dimensional data space in which the semantic connections contained in the data are converted into geometrically interpretable connections so that semantic contents of the data become recognisable as visually recognisable contexts between the visualised patterns; a semantic image S is an image of a vector of individual values (xl...xn) which in numeric form describe the presence of n features of an object (the so-called feature vector) onto an initial value y; and the value y describes the membership of the set of individual features (xl...xn) to a new feature which semantically encompasses the individual features.
