A part exposed to hot gas corrosive stresses caused by sulphur, chlorine and other corrosive compounds is thermally sprayed with an iron-based material having the following composition: 10.0-33 wt.% Al; 10.0 wt.% Cr; 10.0 wt.% Ta, Ti and/or Zr; 5.0 wt.% Nb and/or Mo; 6.0 wt.% Si; 2.0 wt.% Y, Hf and/or Ce; 2.0 wt.% C; the remainder being iron. The sprayed material forms a corrosion-resistant coating of 0.1 to 2.0 mm thickness on the sprayed part.
