Organosilanes and organopolysiloxanes (I) with radical-forming gps. contain 0.1-100 wt.% units of formula ÄRaSi(O13a/2Ü-R1-C6H4-xR5x-N=N-Sy-R1-R2Ü (1) 0-80 wt.% units of formula ÄR23SiO1/2Ü (2) 0-99.9 wt.% units of formula R22SiO2/2Ü (3) 0-80 wt.% units of formula ÄR2SiO3/2Ü (4) and 0-80 wt.% units of formula ÄSiO4/2Ü (5) R = Cl, Br, OH, 1-18C alkoxy, or 1-18C hydrocarbyl, opt. substd. with halo, amino, OH, epoxyalkyl or CN; R1 = direct bond or 1-18C hydrocarbylene, opt. substd. with halo, amino, OH, acyloxy, epoxyalkyl or CN and opt. contg. in -chain -O-, -S-, -COO-, -OOC-, -CONR2-., -NR2- or -CO- gps.; R2 = H or R; R5 = halo, CN, nitro, -R, -OR or -COR; a = 0, 1, 2 or 3, with a = 3 if the amt. of (1) is 100 wt.%; x = 0, 1, 2, 3 or 3; y = 0 or 1.
