METHOD FOR REBINNING AND FOR CORRECTING CONE BEAM ERROR IN A FAN BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHIC SCANNER SYSTEM

A method of reconstructing data acquired on a fan beam ct system firstly rebins the data to parallel beam format using limited angle weighting fold-over redundant data by adding corner rays of one scan to the center rays of another scan. (52A) denotes column interpolation for the first scan data and (52b) denotes column interpolation for the second scan data. After the two scans are weighted, the sinogram corner of one scan is added to the sinogram corner of the other scan. By so doing, fold-over (56) is obtained. Further interpolation is avoided after the first one-dimensional interpolation. The resultant sinogram undergoes a final rebinning step (60) that results in a row transformation.
