The vehicle radio data system (RDS) and the traffic message control (TDC) signal is received Ä1Ü, and is passed through the tuner Ä2Ü, the stereo decoderÄ4Ü and the RDS decoder Ä5Ü to a control circuit Ä7Ü. The low frequency stereo signals are passed to the loudspeakers Ä10,11Ü. Coupled to the controller is a memory Ä12Ü, a display Ä13Ü, a speech synthesiser Ä14Ü and other units such as a CD-ROM drive. A card reader Ä16Ü allows an input from a smart card Ä17Ü. The system memory Ä12Ü stores the received data and allows the conversion from one language to another by using the synthesiser. The smart card contains the data for selection control for different road regions.
