The lighting unit (8) has a lamp (9,10) and an associated supply (12-15). The lighting unit is separated from the interior of the telephone box by a removable cover (7). Once the cover is removed the electrical supply remains covered by an supply cover (20). The supply cover has a conductive layer (25) which is connected to earth. The supply cover can be made of an insulating material with a conductive coating over its outer surface, or may be made of a conductive material. The electrical supply components are mounted on the underside of the supply cover, and the cover is positioned so it cannot be removed from the inside of the telephone box.
