Stent for intraluminal placement in hollow organs

The stent comprises a tubular body movable from the compresses state into the expanded one of larger diameter. A large number of apertures (13,14) in the wall of the body allow its expansion. Both in the compressed and the expanded state the apertures extend in the lengthwise directions. The reinforced connecting portions (15) are situated between adjacent apertures in the lengthwise direction. The sections of wall material between the apertures can form enclosing edges for the latter, joined together in the lengthwise direction and elastic to allow stent expansion. In the peripheral direction they can be joined together by the connecting portions.
