New microorganisms producing EPA and method for producing EPA using the same

The present invention relates to a new strain, Aeromonas B3010F1 (Accession No. KCCM 10062), isolated from the intestines of drench fish, and to a process for making EPA using the same. Since this strain produces EPA stably at a high yield and does not produce an extracellular polysaccharide, the EPA produced by this strain can be easily separated and purified. In addition, EPA can be produced more efficiently by adding arachidonic acid or methanol to a fucoid medium, which is a heart containing a bovine heart extract.
