In the present invention, when providing the MPEG-1 data and general data to a user through a communication network, the data is transmitted using the MPEG-2 transport stream or the MPEG-1 system stream using the same communication line, 1 system stream and the MPEG-1 system stream are transmitted through the same communication path, the receiving side transmits the MPEG-1 system stream and the MPEG-2 transport stream according to the data to be transmitted, 2 transport streams and 0x47 and 0x000001BA, which are synchronous words of the MPEG-1 system stream, and the MPEG-2 transport stream, in order to detect data automatically and to perform appropriate processing for each data, 2 and the pack-1 by using the periodicity of the synchronous word and overcomes transmission errors.
