The digital video recording platform performs copy protection in both digital and analog areas. The copy protection includes a scrambling or scrambling circuit element. For externally provided analog video, the recorder detects copy protection and replies that recording is impossible. The anti-copy bits are detected so that recording can not be performed on the analog video provided from the outside, and scramble processing is performed in the digital part as a part of the copy protection system.
