FIELD: chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: process for preparing hexene-1 by polymerization of hexene-1 in inert atmosphere in the presence of catalytic system comprising titanium tetrachloride and organoaluminium compound. The catalytic system is essentially diethylaluminium chloride product in gas phase applied successively onto graphite at 30-45 C for 30-45 minutes in amount of (0,01-0,32)•10-3 mole per 1 g of graphite and titanium tetrachloride for 20 minutes at Al(C2H5)2Cl•TiCl4 molar ratio of (0.8-4.3):1 followed by removal of catalytic system components unreacted with graphite under vacuum and by further activation of the resulting product with triethylaluminium or diethylaluminium chloride at Al(C2H5)Cl•Ti molar ratio of (3.5-28.3):1.
