METHOD FOR RESTORING FLEXION FUNCTION OF FINGERS IN CASES OF IRREVERSIBLE MEDIAN NERVE INJURIES

FIELD: orthopedics; surgery. SUBSTANCE: proposed operative method is practised in two steps. In first step, smooth-walled canal is formed with help of silicone rod, followed by forming circle-shaped ligament. Finally, peduncles of tendon of surface flexor of II-V fingers are severed. As result, it becomes possible to avoid formation of commissures between fascial transplant and surrounding tissues, to ensure adequate amplitude and flexing force of hand fingers, and to prepare patient for second operation step. In second step, silicone rod is isolated and extracted. Canal thus left empty is filled with transplant taken from fascia lata femoris which is secured to biceps muscle tendon and to tendon of fingers' deep flexor muscle. EFFECT: maximum healing effect; number of possible complications avoided.
