A character recognition process employed in a processing procedure that allows reading of the characters to take place for various orientations between the character line and the scanning direction. The characters are read by a CCD camera and the signals generated are transmitted to a neural network that has been trained with a range of different signal patterns obtained with different orientations. It provides data for comparison to give identification.
