A vacuum compression tool for mfg. plastic components, esp. with fibre reinforcement, comprises two or more parts (3,16) which form a working chamber with a cavity and are self-centring around the tool edge without requiring additional guides. A release film (9) is applied to the profile forming face of the tool (16) without folding by an integral air flow system. A process for mfg. fibre-reinforced thermoplastic products is also claimed in which the fibre reinforcement and resin binder is applied to the rear face of a thermoformed moulding.
