Lifting eye system for concrete transport - formed by drilling hole in concrete for sleeved anchor rod in thread-free design, assisted by plastics formers to form customised holes as needed
The concrete (1) is drilled open (4) at right angles to its exterior and the channel thus drilled is extended crossways at a distance from the outside. The transport anchor (2) is formed from a rod (6) having a transverse head (7) at one end and securement (8) at the far end. A rotary sleeve (9) round the rod also has a cross head (10) at one end and a stop face (11) and coupling stirrup (6,16) at the far end. With their heads (7,10) registered, the rod and sleeve are run into the hole (4) axially until their endface (11) bears against the outside of the concrete component (1). The sleeve has to be twisted 90 deg in relation to the rod so the sleeve head (10) enters the transverse extension of the hole (4), using the securement (8) at this stage to lock the sleeve in place in relation to the anchor rod (6). The channel shaped hole (4) should be rectangular and the extension of the hole is formed near the inside end of the hole, using bevelled sleeve cross head (10) and the hole surfaces confronting them so the centre axis of the hole and sleeve form an obtuse angle. In the case of structural components, rod and hole are both curved, using hollow plastics formers moulded into the concrete for this purpose.
