A digital printing method imprints a special durable substrate (5). Individual ink or toner components are applied by electrical transfer potentials in immediately-consecutive printing zones. Novel features include use of a polyester sheet with an electrically-conductive outer layer. Also the transfer potential is set sufficiently high, to effect adequate adhesion of the applied ink components, in relation to the transfer potential effective in the following printing zone.
