The method involves feeding two sheets (1,7) between two toothed rollers (3,3'). Strips of adhesive are first applied to at least one of the sheets. The strips of adhesive run at right-angles to the direction in which the sheets are fed in. The tops of the teeth on the rollers press the sheets together over the areas to which adhesive is applied. While the sheets are fed between the rollers, tubes or rods of hexagonal cross-section of which the edges protrude, are fed-in between the sheets to fill the hollow spaces which are created by the gaps between the teeth of the rollers.
