The device comprises a rigidly formed housing(2) in which there is at least one holder(10) formed to correspond to the outer shape of the article to be stored. The housing is in two halves which fit together, and can be interconnected by a hinge or pivot. Several holders may be located next to each other in the housing, or may lie axially one behind the other. The holder unit(9) is formed from toughened plastic and preferably can be inserted into the housing, or the holder unit is formed in one piece with the housing.
