Dynamic damper of the double mass type, which has two interconnected damper systems, and drive shaft equipped with the dynamic damper

A double-mass type dynamic damper 10 is mounted on a rod-shaped oscillating member 12, and includes a first damper system 18 and a second damper system 24 that are tuned to two different frequency ranges. Each of the damper systems includes a cylindrical mass member 14, 20 disposed radially outwardly of the oscillating member, and an elastic support member 16, 22 for elastically supporting the mass member with respect to the oscillating member. The elastic support members of the two support systems are disposed in series and integrally connected to each other in the axial direction so as to form an elastic connector 44 connecting axially opposed faces of the two mass members. The two elastic support members 16, 22 have respective spring constants (as measured in the radial directions) which are both larger than the shearing spring constant of the elastic connector 44 that is subjected to shearing stresses upon relative displacement of the mass members in the radial directions.
