Coal face equipment in which the integrated module (13) of the extraction control unit and the mains receiver (14) for the supply of current to the integrated module have a housing (10) fitted with a fire damp protective capsule. Lamps (11) are fitted to the module and wiring connections from the module to the sensor/valve strip (14) are led out from the housing. Several control units are linked together by energy supply cables (16) running as data transmission lines between the lamps. The energy supply cables may use a clear light filament responsible for transmission of data.
