The chimney comprises outer and inner pipes (2,5). The inner pipe is positioned at a distance from the outer pipe. The inner pipe is made of high grade steel and there is an insulating layer (6) between the inner and outer pipes. The insulating layer is made of a shapable material, e.g. a plastics hard foam. The outer pipe has reinforcing fins (3,4) towards inside and/or outside which secure the insulating layer. The inner pipe has two ribs (7) which engage into the insulating layer with an end section.
