Furnace equipment for removal of moulding sand from aluminium castings and heat treatment of the castings

Binder is completely burnt out of moulding sand adhering to Al castings at the same time as the castings are heat treated on a roller conveyor, over which the sand moulds containing the castings pass and finally the castings alone. The moulds are carried on pallets which comprise a grid supporting a mesh or a mesh alone, having a spacing to retain the lumps of moulding sand as they fall off the casting, until they disintegrate as further burning takes place and allow the sand to fall through the mesh. The mesh size is 10 to 80 mm, more preferably 20 to 40 mm.
