Control of rectifier output voltage e.g. for electrical supply of electric vehicles - has gate voltage taken from regulator which uses discrepancy in rectifier output voltage and reactive input current as parameters
A procedure for controlling the output voltage of a rectifier using GTO thyristors (t1 to t4) has the gate voltage for these valves controlled by a voltage regulator (10) according to the deviation of the actual rectifier output voltage from its setpoint and also according to the reactive power or reactive current in the primary of the transformer connecting the alternating input. The reactive power or current is found by Fourier analysis of the fundamental waveform in the total power or current. The cosine component of the Fourier analysis result is used as an actual value for PI-control, a set-point being given already.
