The method involves using GPS systems. Spatial coordinates (x,y,z), including altitude information, are acquired during land processing by machines (8) fitted with a position determination system (12) such as GPS. The spatial coordinates from the position determination system are stored in digital form. The stored digitised spatial coordinate information is processed into a terrain relief model which is displayed on a screen, communicated to another computer by cable or radio and output to a printer or storage medium. It can be printed or displayed in three-dimensional form.
