Supply line blocking method e.g. for preventing flooding of domestic supply

The blocking method uses a main blocking valve (3) controlling the water feed to a number of delivery taps at spaced points within a dwelling, the main blocking valve held in the closed position unless an occupant is detected within the dwelling. The pressure between the main blocking valve and the delivery taps is measured when the main blocking valve is closed, for preventing it opening when an occupant is detected if a pressure loss is detected. A service engineer may be informed of abnormalities via a modem.
