Air-cleaner for vehicle interior

The inlet air-flow is ducted into two parallel paths; one through a filter to the vehicle interior and the other through a parallel filter, which is heated, to vent the desorbed impurities to atmosphere. The flows are controlled by linked flow control valves. The heating elements are embedded in the filters and are activated by switches coupled to the flow controls. The incoming air flow, from the blower, is ducted to one of two side ducts (7,8), one duct being open and the other closed, by the coupled flap valves (12,13) in the ducts. The side duct air flow passes through one filter and into the vehicle interior. The other airflow passes directly into the central duct (6) and is deflected by a third flap valve (11) through the other, heated filter and out via a vent duct. The process is repeated after a set interval, with the flaps in the opposite settings.
