Monitoring system for terrestrial, digital television transmission network

The system monitors a datastream which is composed of a sequence of symbols to be transmitted over several channels. In the datastream is transmitted a periodically repeated test symbol with characteristic, preset and constant test data. Selected parameters of the transmission channel are measured on the test symbols and evaluated. Preferably in each case 68 symbols of the datastream are combined into a transmission frame, and four such frames form a superframe. One test symbol is transmitted in each superframe.
