The private communication systems (KS) are interconnected via at least one communication network (KN). Mutually controlled communication terminals (KE) are connected to the communication connections (KV). Each private system (KS) is formed by at least one bidirectional multiplexer (MUX) for multiplexer and demultiplexing communication connections (KV) to be connected via the communication network (KN). The multiplexer (MUX) has at least one communication network connector unit (KN-AE) for multiplexed connections (KV(m)) and a communication system connector unit (KS-AE) for a communication connection (KV). Each private system is also formed by an exchange device (VE)connected to the at least one communication network and communication system connector units (KN-AE, KS-AE) of the associated multiplexer (MUX). This provides internal communication connections (KV) and also communication connections (KV) to go from the multiplexer (MUX) to other communication systems (KS). It also provides multiplexed communication connections (KV(m)).
