Water-based wood preservative with true thixotropy

A wood-protective paint or stain contains a pigment dispersion with 10-12 (especially 11)% linseed oil polymer and a lacquer with 33-40 (especially 36)% thixotropic acrylic-modified alkyd resin in aqueous emulsion, the amounts being wt.% based on total weight of the paint. The production is by (i) making the pigment dispersion by stirring an Fe oxide pigment for 15-20 minutes into a mixture containing the required additives and also part of the linseed oil polymer; and (ii) after stirring in the remaining amount of the linseed oil polymer, stirring in the lacquer components (preferably with the modified alkyd added first).
