The cash-till system has the trolley containing the selected goods brought to a point with a number of cash-tills (1) spaced apart by relatively narrow access aisles (2) for passage of the trolleys. The value of each item in the trolley is entered in an automatic till (3) which provides the cash total when a trolley identification code is entered upon passage of the trolley through the aisle, or when an identification indicating that the customer did not use a trolley is entered.
