The invention relates to novel n-(2-alkyl-phenyl sulphonyl)-N'-(4,6-dimethoxy-2-pyrimidinyl)-(thio)ureas of formula (I) in which Q is oxygen or sulphur and R is ethyl, n-propyl or i-propyl. The invention also relates to salts of compounds of formula (I), a process for preparing said novel substances, and the use thereof as herbicides.
